A rich and decadent chocolate cake topped with delicate chocolate peels.

1.5 hours Easy Utensils Needed: Mixing Bowl, Cake Pan, Peeler

Ingredients (For 4 People)

  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 200g dark chocolate for peeling

Recipe

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch cake pan.

  3. Add buttermilk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract. Beat the mixture until smooth.
  4. Slowly add boiling water to the batter, mixing until well combined. The batter will be thin, but this is normal.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
